Job Description
The Civil Foreman oversees labor activities, manages subcontractor work fronts, coordinates material and equipment usage, and ensures site works are carried out efficiently and safely.
This role requires strong practical construction knowledge, leadership skills, understanding of civil construction methods, and the ability to manage site manpower under demanding project conditions.
Core Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision & Workforce Management
- Supervise daily construction activities on-site
- Allocate work tasks to laborers and subcontractors
- Monitor workforce productivity and discipline
- Ensure sufficient manpower is available for planned activities
- Coordinate daily work priorities with Site Engineers
2. Construction Execution
- Ensure work execution as per approved drawings and specifications

Supervise civil activities including:
- Excavation
- Concrete works
- Blockwork
- Plastering
- Reinforcement fixing
- Formwork installation
- Finishing works
- Verify dimensions, levels, alignments, and site layouts
- Ensure proper sequencing of site activities
3. Material & Equipment Coordination
- Coordinate material requirements with store and site engineers
- Monitor proper use of construction materials
- Minimize material wastage and misuse
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and utilized
- Report shortages or damaged materials/equipment immediately
4. Quality Control Support
- Ensure workmanship complies with project quality standards
- Coordinate with QA/QC team during inspections
- Rectify defective work as instructed
- Prevent unauthorized or non-compliant work execution
- Ensure approved materials are used on-site
5. Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce site safety rules and PPE compliance
- Conduct daily toolbox talks with workers
- Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards immediately
- Ensure proper housekeeping in work areas
- Stop unsafe work practices and report incidents
6. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Report daily progress to Site Engineer
- Monitor completed work quantities
- Assist in achieving project milestones and schedules
- Report delays, manpower shortages, or technical issues
- Support planning of upcoming activities
7. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, QA/QC, HSE, and subcontractors
- Attend daily site coordination meetings
- Communicate work instructions clearly to workforce
- Resolve minor site issues and escalate major concerns
- Ensure smooth workflow between different trades
